I think the article on the Kappawalla Agyari building is absolute and utter hypocrisy by a bunch of "nothing better to do individuals". Honestly speaking, i have nothing to do with the trust, the trustees or the tenant, but all the noise over nothing. Have you seen the condition of the infrastructure in our country and Bombay, supposedly our financial capital. Is this what the financial capital of a rising economy and a growing power in the world should represent. When will the people of our country get out of the stone age and stop using religion as an excuse for everything. Be it Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian and now even the Zoroastrians. I thought we were far more educated and level headed.
The tenant wants to reconstruct the building...so what? He/She isnt breaking down the Fire temple to do so. “Agiary lands are sacred. Any form of development will spoil the ambience,” said Desai. Utter nonsense from a woman in such an important position of The World Alliance for Parsi Irani Zarthostis. Do people go to the fire temple to pray or to enjoy the ambience. And speaking about ambience what would you rather have next to the agyari. An old dilapitated building or a new building that represents the new India in this new generation and its people. One fly's into bombay and the first thing that meets the eye is the biggest slum in asia. Thats what happens when the people of our country keep protesting every step forward another individual tries to take. We stagnate and will never progress, forget reaching the top. And you as a responsible journalist should help in building our great nation instead of being biased towards religion and supporting such a farce. In my small opinion religion shoud come from the heart and not through such propoganda over if an old building should be replaced by a new one or absolute rubbish and nonsensical comments such as the ambience being disrupted. If one is looking for ambience and not the almighty then he/she is coming to the wrong place.
Please excuse anything I said which you or anyone else who reads my reply, may not like. After all it is just a matter of opinion and reading other articles such as these, where many from the parsi community waste their precious time on frivilous matters arguing and fighting over certain parts of the trust property being renewed and using religion as an excuse, really gets the blood boiling. Im sure I speak on behalf of many other Indians and not just Parsis (Myself being one). Not to forget we were the ones who came seeking refuge in this country and not that this country of ours came looking for us.
Would be nice If you could publish my reply and see the response you get from individuals of all castes, creeds and religions.
Thank you.
