This is an excellent article and poses the question openly and cleary: Do we change or do we become extinct? I believe that the community is getting ready for a breakup, with the conservatives going their way and the liberals going another way. Naturally, the conservatives will die out, leaving only the liberals and hence change will come to the entire community that way.

For an example, look at Japan. For years the government there has looked down upon immigration as a means to increase the population. But now even they are looking to boost their number of immigrants. They have made obtaining citizenship easier, giving out longer visas, etc. They know that not doing so would ultimately undermine the country.

So what are we waiting for? There is nothing in the religion that states that converts cannot be accepted. In fact, too many born Parsis are abandoning the faith either when they intermarry or of their own volition. And here we are turning those that are sincerely interested away. How stupid! kay mathoo bhejhoo nathee, kay?

I also urge all readers to read the book "Who Stole My Cheese." In in one very strong point made was "if you do not change, you will become extinct."

Hopefully, things will change. As I say, let the conservatives die out. It is a matter of time for them. But we all must do our part to foster change, and in turn survival.
