Where are the vultures? So your first sentence is by itself misleading. C rematorium is not feasible an option in an area like Malabar Hill. Further, even it offends those who consider ‘sacrilege’ of Fire though no Fire is used and electricity is not flames. There are better more eco friendly options like Chemical decomposition. But as hey say, one requires an expose of the rot in the Towers to make our laity who mis up this practice as a part of Religion to wake up.  We had some like Ms. Baria who made some noise some years back but in my knowledge has not taken any concrete steps to rectify this inflicting indignity on the departed souls.

Hinnells suggests that this myth represents the idea that if evil is left to go on quietly and is not openly opposed then it will cause chaos and destroy all that is good. Evil has to be opposed openly and deliberately. This can be done by following all the Zoroastrian purity laws which are at the centre of the Zoroastrian religion. Ritual religious purity wards off evil.

Hey Guys, I’m sorry I posted in the wrong space.

I would suggest an article inquiring into the procedures employed by Avesthagen, a pharmaceutical headed by a Ms. Morawalla-Patel, who fraudulently and illegally duped Parsis into giveing a “small sample” of blood for “research into tracing the parsi genome” and her representatives verbally promised reports stating the genetic pre-disposition of each of the persons from whom they extracted bloood.

The consent forms that they gave  were given after the blood was extracted. They were lengthy and ambiguous and written in a manner that covered up their illegal practice.

I still have the consent forms, as well as the “advert/ appeal” that they had placed in the baugs, and the thread of e-mails t I sent to the Avesthagen officials about their horrible malpractice. Although I was assured an inquiry and report into the matter, nothing of the sort ever happened.

Extracting nine testubes of blood (about 45-50ml) from each person, some being lactatng mothers, others being in their 80s, was an absolute violation of their human rights.

And what has happened? Will someone help me look into this?

Her representatives went to numerous conies in Mumbai and Surat. I can provide enough of victim’s accounts from Rustom Baug.

Yes, survey is necessary especially why well educated, Atash Behram and Agyari going Parsi young girls from good family back ground whose parents sacrificed so much to bring them up, choose to marry non-Zoroastrians and produce children to follow their faith when our population is on the brink of extinction ? Is it due to lack of
    (1) information about our community’s situation ?
    (2) and religious instructions or education what marriage means in Zoroastrianism ?

The basic reasons for intercast marriages:

    1) Developed Brain.
    2) Human rights.
    3) Opposition to archaical/patriarchal belief system
    4) Marrying at will and not forced into it.
    5) Threats of disowning or making an outcast makes you cringe in disgust.

I am not against marrying in the sommunity. I am against forcing to marry in the community. It hasn’t helped and it will never help. You can lambast me all you want but the real cause of diminishing Parsis is not intercast marriages but a mindset too narrow to see or understand one’s own faults.

Agreed to all “praises” people have for Parsi religion & community, but can’t understand why people from other religion cant enter/visit our Agiyari.
Is our religion and place where we worship of such high standard where we feel “others” are not equivalent to worship our God?  I know and have heard multiple reasons and logic from the best of individuals from our community regarding not allowing “other religion” individuals to enter our Agiyari,  but none of the logic & explanation have touched my heart in a positive way.
I have visited the best of holistic places in India and that too of various religious backgrounds. I have seen love & affection within each individual who visits those places irrespectible of which community they belong.  The only thought which struck my mind even at that time was “why we-parsis differ from this concept.”
Religion is totally different as compared to faith. We all believe that God is One-“Ek Omkar”, then why such difference?  This is just fate/destiny that we are offspring’s  of a parsi couple so we are termed as “Parsi”. There is nothing to be proud of what God has offered us. This is just a gift from supreme…nothing more than that.  Few “foolish individuals” among our community seldom have a single line to say – “ we/parsis & our agiyari is paak so we can’t  allow others to enter within”.  I totally disagree to accept the fact that the God that I worship is of such a nature that he will feel objected if an individual of some other community bows on his feet and prays to him.  We should never ever forget that if we are living in India- we are Hindus first and then can follow any faith which our heart wishes to. If we can’t accept that we are “Hindus” we can never be a “True Parsi”. –       Jai Hind

We need an article about a Parsi holding his rights as a minority in a cosmopolitan society. We need parsi advises, on how to remain strong between other castes, when we fall alone and lonely in this cruel world of competition. We need how to shield and protect parsis against humiliation from other castes out of jealousy. We need an article about fighting back when our own parsis call other parsis crack bawa in front of other community and insult them. Since all the other communities are now actually coming up in the inglis-spikking werold, some parsis are strongly dominated and supressed, how to turn back and show the finger. Parsis are often humiliated for not getting married and joked about too much, how to return it with thanks. Parsis are always thumped in serious conversations by others when BPP becomes an ever open charitable organisation . Lets have a provocative article. Lets be true- COME_ON

No Doubt we are thankful to Mr. Jadi Rana who gave us immense support when we landed on Indian soil, but we are not HINDUS. We are truly Mazdayasni Zarthoshthis only. We must follow Parsi Zoroastrian Religion Customs, Traditions, Ethics only. No scholar can change this. No Reformist can change this. It is always an Orthodox person who will look after the Mazdayasni Zarthosti Religion for a longer period of time and till eternity. God Bless You. Yatha Jamyad Yatha Afrinami.

  • Phiroze

Porus your logic that if we are living in India we are Hindus is laughable. Those living in India are Indians irrespective of their religious followings. India has  hindus  muslims christians sikhs buddhists Jains bahais etc etc etc…. If you want to accept that you are hindu and that makes you a True Parsi more power to you. Please do not let any more thoughts strike your mind on this concept as your brain may not be able to take it. Thanks for making my day.

    Are you confused?

While I agree that Agyaris should be open to people from all faiths, but the notion of being a Hindu first is actually moronic.

If you ask for equality, then I think you should let go of religion.

Plus Parsis are too self involved to see anything beyond the Customs, Traditions, Ethics.
So asking this question is blasphemy for them and a waste of time for you because Parsi God is a god only for Parsis. Concept of one god is a moot on them and a person of any other religion is free of the morals and wrath of Parsi God.

No wonder as to who owns a God here…!!

Yesterday’s function at malcolm baug organised by Zoroastrian Trust Funds of India for doing navjote of 5 poor children was excellent. Almost 1,000 people enjoyed the evening. It was fun-filled with Gara Competition, Dances, Music, Food, Fun and Frolic. Hats off to people who organised the same beautifully. Now, I suggest on 9th August, 2012 which will be their third anniversary, 5 poor parsi marriages can be organised in the same manner. We do not mind attending the same and enjoying our evening. This way, even parsi population will also increase. ZTFI please think it over. All The Best. God Bless You.

My take on suggesting an Article is ” WOULD A REFERENDUM ON CONTROVERSIAL ISSUES  PUT AN END TO ACRIMONY IN THE COMMUNITY”

Phiroze talks as if th Fire Temples he frequents are built from his ‘potana khissa mathi”  This is known as hallucination.

I suggest you please write an article on pending number of court cases BPP has in Mumbai.(and also with Honourable Supreme Court of India.) What genuine efforts  7 trustees have taken to do an OUT OF COURT SETTLEMENT to reduce the number. This is very important for the Parsee Community to know because at a drop of a hat BPP loves going to Court instead of settling the matter amicably, peacefully. May LOrd Ahuramazda show them the right path.

It seems you think that you are the only ones who know how to worship and everyone else are here to party.

First: Even if I take your insulting and offending comment as a joke, it still is too stupid to make on your “wish for an agiary (more of a club) open to all”.

Second: If you let go of religion as a basis to build your relations with people, then you’d be closer to them. Please read into the lines. If you plan on taking everything literaly, then refrain from writing pun intended comments yourself.

Third: If you need and Agyari to have faith, then I am sorry, you are weak.

Fourth: You should stop being condescending about how you follow your religion. Going by your views here, you seem offended that people not of your religion can put their faith in Ahura Mazda. You should realize that you are created by him and its not the other way around. So refrain from telling people if they can wish to visit an Agyari to worship Ahura Mazda.
