porus_vimadalal A self-declared bon vivant, fashion photographer Porus Vimadalal is on an all time high. Having only recently gotten into the Indian fashion industry, since 2012, he says he is highly satisfied with how he is growing professionally, and with his style of photography constantly evolving.

It wasn’t always just photography though. He completed his 3 year diploma in Fashion Design from Wigan & Leigh College in Mumbai, in 2006. As his (late) father Captain Kurush D Vimadalal was a senior pilot in Jet Airways, Porus was encouraged to go on and acquire a commercial pilot license. However, fundamentally a very creative person, he wasn’t satisfied. Deciding in 2011 to give up aviation and to follow something his heart truly wanted; Porus chose fashion photography. He completed a 1 year diploma in studying digital photography at VanArts, in Vancouver  Canada 2011-2012.

“I don’t think a “pretty” picture makes for a great picture. I am more interested to evoke a sense of appeal in the viewer, through my pictures.” – His style is organic and minimal, juxtaposed with a tint of drama, natural lighting being his favourite to shoot with. He emphatically states how an excess of retouching is an absolute no-no. “Natural flaws are beautiful, correcting colours and very obvious details which could deter the desired impact of a picture are fine, but one needs to know where to draw the line” he says.

With 3 qualifications under his belt, Porus is yet raring to go. “I am interested in motion. I think I might venture into shooting video later on in the future’.
