Nearly 22 years ago Arnavaz took her first step to serve the poor by working in the Parsi Ward of J.J. Hospital. The ward was an abandoned, desolate out-house with just 20 beds for accommodation. It was in such a dilapidated condition, that even destitutes were wary of habitation there. Today the ward is a posh homely place with more than double the number of beds. There is a long list of old members of the community who are waiting for their turn to get into the ward. This is due to the tireless efforts of Arnavaz Mistry. She makes all possible efforts to see that the inmates feel that this is their own home. And the love and affection that she gives them, will make you wonder if they have ever got that kind of love and affection even from their own families!
Arnavaz is also involved in various other charitable and social causes. Every single
day she is busy taking care of all the needy members of our community, as well as other unfortunate brethren.
Some of the other institutions that she is involved with are Parakh Dharamshala, Doongerwadi, various hospitals, Young Rathestars, Don Bosco Shelter (for street children), Kamla Mehta Blind School, Jai Vakeel School for children in need of special care, Ackworth Leprosy Home, etc.
Following in the footsteps of her guide and mentor, the late Mrs. Sillamai Kavarana, Arnavaz has now submitted her candidature as a Trustee for the ensuing B.P. P. elections. Not for any other purpose but only to equip herself better with one more avenue to help our community. As she is not employed anywhere, she will be able to devote all her time to community matters.
There are some who feel that Trustees occupy the office for many other gains. This cannot be true in Arnavaz’s case, as Dadar Ahura Mazda has blessed her with everything. In fact she spends huge amounts of personal finances for helping the poor and the needy.
Arnavaz is well experienced in handling the working of various organizations and trusts. The administration of all these have been handled by her with total transparency, honesty, efficiency and with a deep concern for the betterment of the community.
