Parsis are an ethnic community in India that follow the Zoroastrian religion. They are originally from Fars in Iran and had migrated to Western India more than 800 years ago. They are an essential part of India’s cultural fabric and diversity but are perhaps the only community outside Europe to have experienced population and fertility decline. I have been reading the works of learned Muslim people on the plight of their people. I have been reading in twocirles.com regularly, objective analysis of how the Quran has to be understood. Unfortunately, I do not see a single Parsi acknowledged in sciences or in other fields trying to save the community. I suggest, that people who are concerned to read the work of a Muslim Professor who is guiding the Muslim community as to how to save the community, how to interpret the Quran in today’s context.
If the powers that be have some thought of the community, it should show leadership.
All we read here is ridicule from one group or the other. There is no leadership. We should all come together, and read the true meaning of Zarthrustra’s teaching.

What prevents Dhobhi Talaowalas to produce similar type of a short film which can cover ranting of persons like apro Phiroze and his supporters, if there are any. It can be an ideal substitute for insipid FPJ fortnightly. Such a short film can be sponsored by some manufacturer of Fruit drink concentrate.

The number of “Parsis” is dwindling. That’s the good news. The number of Zoroastrians is increasing. That is the untold story.
Throughout the ages, there have been interludes when Zoroastrianism has been corrupted by alien influences.

Under Parthian rule, Zoroastrianism had undergone corruption and disillusions from the Greek religion. The Greek religion had spread and mixed with Zoroastrianism when Alexander the Great had conquered the Persian Empire from Darius III. Under Sassanid rule, the pure, version of Zoroastrianism was re-instated

Then came Manichaeism which flourished till Bahram 1 killed Mani. There were many other variations of Zoroastrianism, like Zurvanism.

Now in the 21st Century we have another corrupt form of Zoroastrianism namely, “Parseeism”.
While Zoroastrianism is inclusive, “Parseeism” is insular. While Zarthustra enunciated “Free Will”, the Ayatollahs of “Parsism” seek counter the teachings of Zarathustra through bigotry.
While Zarathustra opposed ritualism, idolatry, the Ayatollahs of “Parseeism” stress on mumbo jumbo, temple worship, and cock-and-bull, to the extent that they confine a poor albino bull to the premises of a Fire Temple for life.
Zoroastrianism has a credo “Thoughts, Words, Deeds”, while “Parseeism” limits itself to subsidised apartments in ghettos / colonies, solar panels to try to turn corpses in to dry fruit, and starting poultry farms to breed vultures”.

Barakaga Deekra, I agree 100%. The decline in many ways is VOLUNTARY. We can accept the children of mixed marriages, we can accept the spouses of mixed marriages, we can accept converts. Do we? NO! Why? Racial bigotry. Face it, we Parsees may be smart book-wise but we are perhaps the stupidest people on earth when it comes to religion, acceptance, and tolerance. This is of course the faut of what I call the Parsi Gustapo, the BPP. They are more than happy to run the entire community to the ground in order to preserve their so-called racial purity. What rubbish! They should all be flogged!

    Barak deekra,
I also agree 100%. One Parsee less. One Zoroastrian added to the world – Siloo Kapadia – She also does not believe in fire temples, sudreh kusti, varasyaji, nirang all mumbo jumbo. She is glad to be a statistic of Neo Zoroastrians. Good for us Parsis.

Anyone else please put up your hands.

It seems WAPIZ has a more sinister agenda and is a front for homosexuals.
In the garb of racial purity, endogamous marriages are insisted upon.
Then to make the “Parsi” race more pure, WAPIZ will require consanguineous marriages. Brother being made to marry sister, or cousins being required to marry each other.
And in the final act, to make the “Parsi” race the purest, WAPIZ will require same-sex unions.

  14. Barak Aga

Mr. Phiroze, make up your mind. Are you “Parsi” or are you “Zoroastrian”?

The Zoroastrians were neither “Parsi”, nor were they “Irani”
A referesher course in history will do you good, and a course in common sense will do the entire community much more good.

Read Jame Jamshed. It tells you that Zarathustra was born in Balkh. Balkh is located in Afghanistan, 21 kms north of the city or Mazar-e-Sharif. Which means Prophet Zarathustra was neither “Parsi, nor was he “Irani”

Then Mr. Phiroze read up on Iran. You will find that in Iran there are no communities such as “Parsi” and “Irani” which is most surprising, as you have “Parsi” and “Irani” in India, but surprisingly not in Iran.

Here is some information on Iran :
Ethnic Groups : Persian 51%, Azeri 24%, Gilaki and Mazandarani 8%, Kurd 7%, Arab 3%, Lur 2%, Baloch 2%, Turkmen 2%, other 1% (no mention of “Parsi” or “Irani”)

Religions : Muslim 98% (Shia 89%, Sunni 9%), other (includes Zoroastrian, Jewish, Christian, and Baha’i) 2%
(no mention of “Parsi” or “Irani”)

Now Mr. Phiroze a geography lesson on Pars Province, for you.
The tribes of Pars Province are Qashqai Turks, Mamasani Lurs, Khamseh and Kohkiluyeh.

Very surprising that there are no “Iranis” in Iran, and no “Parsis” in Pars Province, but we have them in India. The Iranians must be amused.

    Barakbhai Aga,
I am a Parsi Zoroastrian of India and I do not care for your type of Zoroastrianism be it of Afghanistan or Iran or anywhere else.

At the same time I do not have anything against them either. I just want to be left alone to do what I think is right just as I leave them to do their own thing. But I will never give into any sort of pressure or threats.

Thanks but no thanks for your geography lessons. They are a bit off the date I was refering to. As regards the term IRANI in refers to those from Iran eg Americans from USA or Germans from Germany and French from France. Get the gist Barakdeekra. marijhavre tara parthi as Silloomai would say.

    Barak deekra,
One question. If Parsis are bigots, insular, belive in mumbo jumbo firetemples, subject albino bulls to confinement, do not know about Afghanistan, Iran and the rest of the world. Right?

So why are you wasting your precious time here? This blog is for Parsis. Parsis do not care for your type of Zoroastrianism. Suggest you use your time for collecting more numbers to add to your statistics.

    Mr. Phiroze,
It is obvious that you have no answers to the points I have raised.
Just to borrow a phrase from the US President Barack Obama’s speech, “There is no Black America. There is no White America. There is just The United States of America”.

Similarly, “There is no Parsi Zoroastrian. There is no Irani Zoroastrian. There are just Zoroastrians”.

And pray tell me, from where have you percieved threats? Who has threatened you? You are a threat to yourself. Your ignorance is a threat to you. Your bigotry is a threat to you.

You still have no answer as to how there are no “Parsis” and “Iranis” in Iran.

On the contrary, I think it would be well within the rights of the truly ethnic Zoroastrians, such as the Afghans, the Tajiks, the Uzbeks and the Turkmens to request the “Parsis” to stop calling themselves Zoroastrians, as Zarathustra was from their community.

It is obvious that WAPIZ has shot itself in the foot by claiming this ethno-religious identity. Even if you apply WAPIZ’s definition of a “Zarathusti”, neither “Parsi” nor “Irani” would qualify as a Zarthusti, as the Prophet Zarathustra was born in Afghanistan.

Of course Parsis do not care for my suggestions. The Parsi’s never care about anybody’s suggestions. Because the credo of a “Parsi” is “There is none smarter than I. And, there is none greater than I”.

Mr. Phirose there’s another word for “hypocrite”. It is “pharisee”, which is very similar to “Parsi”.

“Pharisee” means “a sanctimonious, self-righteous, or hypocritical person.” And “Parsis” fit that description well.

The WAPIZ page mentions J. R. D. Tata, as “aapro”. But J. R. D. Tata’s mother was French, a.k.a. “Parjat”.
The “Parsis” fawn over Zubin Mehta. But his wife, as well as the Israeli violinist through whom he had a child are “Parjat”

  22. Barak Aga

Mr. Phiroze I waste my precious time here, to tell folks like you to stop chasing us, and telling us “Marry within the so-called <> community.
It is you who wastes our time, by instructing us on whom we marry, herding us in to matrimonial meets.
So do us a favour, stop chasing us, stop instructing us on who our life-partners will be, and we will stop posting to this site.
Just now a Trustee of the Bombay Parsi Punchayet exhorted Zoroastrian youth to enter in to endogamous marriages, whereas the Trustee’s own off-spring has gone and married a Muslim.

So practice what your preach, and eat what you cook, instead of forcing it down the throats of others.
You mind your business, and we mind ours. You interfere in the personal lives of others, be prepared to face the backlash.

And by the way, Mr. Know-it-all, where does it say on this website that it is meant only for “Parsis”?
Doesn’t “Parsi Khabar” mean, “News of the Parsis”?
You don’t even understand your adopted language.

I do not need to answer you as I am not interested in converting to your type of Zoroastrianism and proud of what I follow here in India.

Nobody has a copyright on the word “ZOROASTRIANS” as such so we will call ourselves PARSI Zoroastrians.

The biggest PARJAT on this blog is you and so we will just ignore your rants. Your alleged knowledge has be put in place on the other thread of this blog.

Once again advise you to stop wasting your time here and collect numbers in Afghanistan etc.

Perhaps the Fekus Boss of Arz (ASSOCIATION OF RUEING OF ZOROASTRINISM) must be having higher standards then them I perhaps mean in their category which would be impolite to mention here, though ask me, I don’t mind mentioning!

Phiroze, the fact is you have no answer to anything that I have stated, as I have quoted facts. And I have quoted reason.
There is no “Your type of Zoroastrianism” or “My type of Zoroastrianism”. There is only the “Zoroastrian type of Zoroastrianism”.
Ah! There is no “Parsi type of Zoroastrianism”,neither is there an “Irani type of Zoroastrianism”

You still have not been able to answer a single question.
Was Prophet Zarathustra a “Parsi” or an “Irani”?
If Prophet Zarathustra was a “Parsi” how are “Iranis” permitted to call themselves “Zoroastrian?
If Prophet Zarathustra was an “Irani” why are “Parsis” permitted to call themselves “Zoroastrians”?

  38. Barak Aga

Phiroze, I do not have to collect numbers.
It is “Parsis” whose numbers are dwindling. The number of Zoroastrians is increasing.

Very soon, you too will be on a camel to Afghanistan, to “collect numbers”, as you have put it. But by that time, your days will have been numbered.

  39. Barak Aga

Phiroze, why do you live in a “Parjat” country?
Why don’t you go back to the “Pure, Parsi / Irani” nation of Iran?
    Scared of your ilk?
Phiroze, in Iran, “the Parjat” walk right in to our sacred “agiyaris” and take photographs. The “Parjat” go right up to the sanctum sanctorum.
Aren’t you and your ilk going to do anything about this?

    Phiroze, read this :
“In the 9th century, a deeply venerated cypress tree in Khorasan (which Parthian-era legend supposed had been planted by Zoroaster himself) was felled for the construction of a palace in Baghdad, 2000 miles away.
In the 10th century, on the day that a Tower of Silence had been completed at much trouble and expense, a Muslim official contrived to get up onto it, and to call the adhan (the Muslim call to prayer) from its walls. This was made a pretext to annex the building.
In Bukhara (in present-day Uzbekistan), resistance to Islam required the 9th century Arab commander Qutaiba to convert his province four times. The first three times the citizens reverted to their old religion. Finally, the governor made their religion “difficult for them in every way”, turned the local fire temple into a mosque, and encouraged the local population to attend Friday prayers by paying each attendee two dirhams. The cities where Arab governors resided were particularly vulnerable to such pressures, and in these cases the Zoroastrians were left with no choice but to either conform or migrate to regions that had a more amicable administration.”

    Your comments Phiroze……………
Will you have the guts to leave “Parjat” India, and go back to Iran?
No Phiroze, you won’t. Because at heart, you are “Parjat”.

  40. Barak Aga

  43. Barak Aga

Phiroze, even the Persian Emperors married “Parjats”, and their daughters too married “Parjats”

“Yazdgerd’s son Peroz II fled to China. Yazdgerd’s daughter Shahrbanu is believed to be the wife of Husayn ibn Ali. Yazdgerd’s other daughter Izdundad was married to Bustanai ben Haninai, the Jewish exilarch. The Bahá’í religious leader Bahá’u’lláh’s ancestry can be traced back to Yazdgerd III.”

The Battle of al-Q?disiyyah saw the alleged alliance of Emperor Yazdegerd III with Emperor Heraclius, who then married off his grand daughter Manyanh to Yazdegerd as a symbol of alliance

The Sassanid Persians army, about 60,000 strong, fell in three main categories, infantry, Persians heavy cavalry ,and the Elephant corps. The Elephant corps were also known as Indian corps, as the elephants were trained and brought from the Persians provinces in India.

Phiroze, “Parjats” were fighting on your side, against the Arab armies, and were shedding their blood to defend the Zoroastrian faith.

Phiroze: Who said that I do not believe in Fire Temples, sudreh kusti, and prayers? It is the racial bigotry of the BPP fanatics that is virtually destroying the community that I am at odds with. Kappal, tobaa, dhorr ne mattee! You should all be flogged.

    Barak,
This portal is of Parsi Zoroastrians of India. Check the righthand side on top of the page. It is you who does not understand English.

We do not care about your business or who you want to marry nor about your alleged backlash. So go take a hike and take Farzana and Sillo along.

To one who claims to be Aspi,
In your message of 11th inst, you say that I am away “Many days passed on and on, but no sign of dorab …” well either you ar not a regular reader on this portal or live in your make beieve world of silencing critics. I am regularly contributing on this portal and in fact I have posted several replies to Phiroze
on Sanjan episode. Its for you to read unless you need a new pair of glasses.
I am not going to disappear howsoever you may wish. And your confused belief that I am a lady really amuses me. Perhaps this type of muddled beliefs occur only to “orthodox Ervad’ who ranted and raved a few months back calling all others as Deformists. Now it is for others to decide, who has a deformed mind.

  52. phiroze

    Barak,
All those instances of inter marriage you quote led to the ultimate destruction and end of the Sassaniyan dynasty.

We the PARSI ZOROASTRIANS OF INDIA will continue to do what we know is right no matter what you farzana and silloo say. So take a hike as I said earlier.

  53. phiroze

    Siloo,
if you are so at odds with BPP why din’t you contest the election? Even God helps those who help themselves. Start preparing for the next elections asap

Phiroze do not make a display of your limited intellect.

This is what is mentioned in at the top of the page :
“The Premier Portal FOR ALL THE NEWS IN THE WORLD about Parsis: The Zoroastrians of India”

Phiroze do you understand what “For All The News Means”?

    Obviously not.

Poor comprehension boy! How did you manage to get through school? No wonder Zoroastrian girls do not want to marry “Parsi” boys.

Phiroze, Abraham Lincoln had said, “It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubts”.

With your messages on this site, you have removed all doubts several times over.

No get yourself a good English teacher, and start learning the language all over again.

Specifically ask your teacher to explain the difference between the phrases, “For All The News on In The World On Parsis”, and “For Parsis”.

    Dorabji,
    Sir,
Putting one’s foot in mouth It is a symptomatic disorder as is verbal diarrhea synonymous with those who preach one thing and practice another, in the guise of being traditionalist. Your rather long lambasting of one such victim of foot in the mouth is understandable. Such frustrated individuals who give vent to their base desires to use expletives is reflective of their upbringing. They cannot convince any one. The remedy for curing such
over suspicious cranks lies not in their brains being scanned to find out if there exists one but in their being treated by a Shrink to cure a Anti Reformist phobia .They live in 19th century thinking bequeathed to them by their grandparents who lived in different times. Pardon such individuals for they not what they blabber due to absence of coordination between their tongue/utterances and mental faculties . That’s my sincere advice, for I know not a medicine to remove sawdust from their obstinate heads.

Phiroze, at the outset, I have not called anyone anything.
I use information I have gleaned, to present my view.
Now can you explain how those inter-marriages led to the defeat of the Sassanians?
As far as history goes, the Sassanians were defeated, because their treasury was not sufficient to sustain another war.
Also the Arabs beguiled the Sassanians. The Arabs were fighting both : the Sassanian and Byzantine empires.

In the second battle at Nahavand the Persian were tricked in to following the enemy to a place where an ambush was laid.

Also by the time the battle commenced, many Persians were already talking about disolving the Persian Empire.

  70. Barak Aga

Phiroze, why don’t you focus on the content of the post.

Why would anyone want to post historical facts under fictitious names?
One can understand that if something libelious were to be posted, it would make sense using a pseudonym.
But all the contributors to the post are only debating issues which are contemporary, or are debating history.
No one is hiding their identity, because there is no need to.

  71. Barak Aga

Phiroze you have stated, “We the PARSI ZOROASTRIANS OF INDIA will continue to do what we know is right no matter what you farzana and silloo say. So take a hike as I said earlier”.

But is what you know to be right, right? Why is it then that your numbers are dwindling?
Why then do you have “Save the community” campaigns?
If there is no problem with the community there is no raison d’etre for WAPIZ.
Or is it that like true politicians, they first create problems, and then pretend to solve problems?
