The Zoroastrian Association of California (ZAC) ce The Zoroastrian Association of California (ZAC) celebrated its 50th anniversary on October 12th with the theme: Preserving Heritage, Inspiring Generations: Keepers of the Everlasting Flame. Under a canopy aglow with the warmth of a thousand stars, the Zoroastrian Association of California (ZAC) marked its 50th anniversary on October 12th. The theme, “Preserving Heritage, Inspiring Generations: Keepers of the Everlasting Flame,” echoed through the night as attendees gathered to celebrate a half-century of Zoroastrian community and culture. Surat’s Parsi Family Opens Darshan For 199-Year- Surat’s Parsi Family Opens Darshan For 199-Year-Old Turban of Lord Swaminarayan When Lord Swaminarayan visited Surat in 1881, he presented his turban and Shriphal to Parsi Kotwal Ardesar. The turban has remained with the Parsi family for 199 years clip_image001 The turban is displayed annually for darshan on Bhai Dooj. A crowd of devotees gathered on Bhai Dooj in Ghodapur to view the turban given by Lord Swaminarayan 200 years ago. When Swaminarayan visited Surat in 1881, he presented his turban and Shriphal to Parsi Kotwal Ardesar. This turban has remained with the Parsi family for 199 years, safeguarded with the utmost care. Believing the ascetic’s presence is with them, the family willingly shares darshan of the turban with other devotees as well. Significance of #Swaminarayan Turban The tradition behind the turban is rooted in Lord Swaminarayan’s visit to Surat in 1881. After a brief stay, the yogi, pleased with Ardesar Kotwal’s service, gave a Shriphal and his turban to Kotwal before leaving on Magshar Sud Trayodashi of Samvat 1881. The turban was passed down to Ardesar’s son Jahangirshah, but following his untimely death, it was given to Sorabji Adalji Wadia by Jahangirshah’s widow, Doshibai Kotwal. Now, the third generation, represented by Tehmasp and his son Kershasp, continues to preserve the turban with devotion. @baps #india #surat #turban

Madagascar’s Enigmatic Rock-Cut Architecture may Madagascar’s Enigmatic Rock-Cut Architecture may have been of Zoroastrian origin An international team of researchers found an enigmatic rock-cut architecture at Teniky, a site in the remote Isalo Massif in southern Madagascar, that has no parallels on the island or the East African coast.The research was initiated under Guido Schreurs, associate professor at the Institute of Geological Sciences at the University of Bern in Switzerland.Researchers have documented many newly discovered archaeological structures, including terraces, stone walls, stone basins, and rock-cut structures in various sizes, shapes, and forms constructed in the late first/early second millennia AD.Archaeological excavations and field prospecting at Teniky reveal a much larger and more important archaeological landscape than previously known.Surprisingly, the closest stylistic parallels to this architecture can be found thousands of kilometers away, in present-day Iran, specifically in the Fars region. The rock-cut niches at Teniky show similarities to those known from various sites throughout Iran, dated to the first millennium or older and related to Zoroastrian funerary practices.A series of four circular rock-cut niches.
