From unlikely parties like the AIADMK to the various rebels and activist-independents contesting the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, the top brass of every major political party is scanning the list of candidates, scouting for possible partners in the eventuality of a fractured verdict. That’s why, as 2,376 candidates ready for the crucial election to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation election on Thursday, all eyes are on a handful of likely winners among the 1,000-plus independents in the fray.

Rustom Tirandaz
A former corporator from Dadar Parsee Colony, with stints in the Congress and in the NCP, Tirandaz is contesting from No 173 (Leprosy Home, MbPT Colony) in Wadala. With a lesser known Congressman (Rajendra Pawar) and Sainik (Hemant Doke) pitted against him, Tirandaz could turn this one around in his favour.
