FEZANA’s Statement on the US Presidential Elections 2016

On Tuesday, November 8th, Donald Trump was elected the 45th president of the United States of America. The reverberations both within the United States, Canada and globally have led to everything from demonstrations to a sense of urgency among many nations to understand how Mr. Trump’s administration will affect them.

FEZANA, which represents the collective interests of North American Zoroastrian associations and residents in the United States and Canada, sincerely hopes that Mr. Trump will bring the people of America together to work for a peaceful, just and better society.

We, Zoroastrians, believe in three core tenets: Humata (good thoughts), followed by Hukhata (good words) and Huvarashta (good deeds/actions), and ask President-elect Trump to reflect on these guiding principles as he strives to fulfill his solemn responsibility to serve the nation’s more than 320 million people equally.

Our sincere hope is that Mr. Trump will be successful in making America united, in lifting up and embracing all its people, in continuing and accelerating the pace of economic recovery, and in exercising restraint over exuberance when working to resolve some of the world’s most challenging crises. If President-elect Trump can adhere to his acceptance speech that was rife with civility and magnanimity, the country will cheer him.

We wish President-elect Trump well as he forges ahead over the next four years. We pray President-elect Trump leads an administration and executive branch that represents the best interests of all genders, races, ethnicities, cultures and religions that form today’s dynamic American mosaic.
