Zoroastrian Association of California Celebrates 50th Anniversary

The Zoroastrian Association of California (ZAC) celebrated its 50th anniversary on October 12th with the theme: Preserving Heritage, Inspiring Generations: Keepers of the Everlasting Flame.

Under a canopy aglow with the warmth of a thousand stars, the Zoroastrian Association of California (ZAC) marked its 50th anniversary on October 12th. The theme, “Preserving Heritage, Inspiring Generations: Keepers of the Everlasting Flame,” echoed through the night as attendees gathered to celebrate a half-century of Zoroastrian community and culture.

The evening commenced with a sacred invocation led by Head Priest Ervad Zarir Bhandara, setting a spiritual tone for the festivities. Daisy Pithawalla, ZAC’s Youth Coordinator, and Zane Commissariat, served as engaging emcees, guiding the audience through a delightful program.

A heartwarming reunion of former ZAC presidents, including current President Rooky Fitter, honored the individuals who have shaped the organization’s journey. The celebration was further enlivened by a captivating dance performance, featuring iconic Bollywood songs from 1974 to 2024, choreographed and performed by Danish Bhandara with her talented team. A nostalgic short film transported attendees back in time, reliving cherished memories.

A culinary masterpiece awaited guests, with a sumptuous dinner featuring traditional Zoroastrian delicacies like Patra ni Machhi and a decadent dessert spread. Xerxes Commissariat’s culinary artistry ensured a feast fit for a king.

As the night drew to a close, the dance floor came alive with the infectious beats of the live DJ Fusion band, featuring Nauzad Sadri and DJ Zubin Chichgar. The celebration concluded on a high note, leaving everyone with a sense of joy, connection, and a renewed commitment to the Zoroastrian heritage. Dance video can be viewed here
