Dinaz Vervatwala Enters Guinness Book of Records

“I finally made it and can’t believe it’s over,” beamed a visibly exhausted fitness trainer, Dinaz Vervatwala, after claiming the Guinness Book of World Record for completing 26-hour-long aerobics marathon that ended on Sunday evening at around 8.30 p.m.

Polo Grounds at Secunderabad reverberated with energizing music as the noted fitness trainer took the stage along with over 700 volunteers who joined her to take part in her quest to set the world record.

The Polo Grounds resonated with the applause and encouragement of army officers, participants and audience, who turned up in large numbers.

Several of them waved the tricolour proudly. Dinaz was the cynosure of all eyes as her nimble footedness, in sync with the music, drew applause.

The event was special for scores of army officers, as it coincided with the closing ceremony of the Ninth Reunion of the Corps of EME.

“I’m happy that I’m the first person to set a new record and the first woman to have got this achievement. The feat couldn’t be achieved without support from my friends and family,” she said.

“I’m extremely happy that the city will now be noted in the entire world. The aim of the event was to spread the message of fitness and healthy living,” she beamed.

Prominent dignitaries who were present at the felicitation ceremony included AVSM-Director General Corps of EME, Lieutenant General A.K.S. Chandele, former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Praja Rajyam president K. Chiranjeevi, Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary, Department of Tourism, cricketer V.V.S. Laxman.
