Havovi Cooper: From Karachi Roots to Emmy Winner

A commemorated path from Karachi to prime-time recognition, Havovi Cooper—daughter of Dosi and Zubin Cooper—is capturing global headlines. The former Karachiite and a graduate of Southwest Minnesota State University with a Master’s from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism, has become a celebrated figure in international journalism.

A Meteoric Rise in Journalism

Havovi’s journey began at age 16 with an internship at She Magazine in Karachi. That early experience set the stage for her global career. She later held roles at BBC New America in New York and briefly returned to Pakistan’s GEO News as an anchor, before spending 12 influential years at Reuters serving in senior production roles. Since 2019, she has been a creative force at Business Insider, currently serving as Deputy Executive Producer and on-air host.

Her journalism is deeply rooted in her cultural heritage: as a Pakistani-born correspondent, she remains fluent in Urdu and Gujarati, and has maintained a personal love for biryani and tropical travel—touches that inform her unique storytelling perspective.
