Parsi Woman Cricketer To Represent USA at the World Cup Qualifiers

Delkash Shahriarian, a New York based architect and cricketer has been selected to represent the USA in the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier 2011.

The event is scheduled to be played across four Dhaka venues from 14 to 25 November. Host Bangladesh will be joined by teams from Ireland, Japan, Netherlands, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies, USA and Zimbabwe to battle it out for the four remaining spots at the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2013 which will be hosted by India.

Delkash originally hails from Rustom Baug in Mumbai and moved to the US a few years ago to pursue a Masters in Architecture at the Pratt Institute. An avid cricketer in Mumbai, and captain of the Rustom Baug Women’s cricket team, she continued her passion for the game here in the USA.

Last year in November, she was selected as part of the US T20 team and we had reported it in this article.

Delkash along with her teammates will head out for Bangladesh on November 05, 2011.

She and her team take on South Africa in their opening game on November 15 2011.

We wish Delkash and her team the best of luck and look forward to hearing great things from this tournament and onwards in the future.
