Udvada, Sanjan to be world heritage centres for religious harmony: Narendra Modi

Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi today announced that the famous pilgrimage places of Parsi community, Udvada and Sanjan in Valsad, would be developed as ‘World Heritage Centres for Religious Harmony’.

The announcement came during a function organised to celebrate the 1290th anniversary of Shreeji Pak Iranshah at Udvada.

Modi said that while the entire country was divided into minority and majority communities, the Parsi community had managed to keep away from such controversies which was the best certificate of good governance to the Gujarat government.

"Parsis have always contributed greatly to the growth of India," the chief minister said while mentioning Madam Cama who had assisted freedom fighter Shyamji Krishna Varma.

Modi, the first chief minister to attend this function, was felicitated by head Dasturjees and other leaders of the community.

Modi also prayed at the sacred fire temple Atash Behram.

Modi also sought blessing of Humta-Hukhta-Huvarshta (Good thoughts-Good words-Good deeds) from Iranshah.
