Eastside Community Heritage, a charity based in East London, are in search of anyone with memories or further information, on Kersasp Ardeshir Dadabhai (K.A.D) Naoroji. Often known by his nickname as ‘Kish’ Naoroji; he worked for TATA for many years and was a grandson of the famous Dadabhai Naoroji.
For the centenary of the First World War this year, we are running a heritage project with Middlesex University in the U.K, investigating black and Asian soldiers who served in the Middlesex Regiment of the British Army. We know that Kish Naoroji enlisted into the Universities and Public Schools’s Brigade while at Cambridge; that he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant; and that he was injured.
Ideally, we would like to know more of his military service, though we are also intending to collect oral histories from any relatives, friends or acquaintances of Kish to gather a sense of his life after the war, and a flavor of his personality. We are hoping that he should still be within living memory, as he died only in 1977. Any memories, contacts photos, memorabilia or further leads relating to K.A.D ‘Kish’ Naoroji will be most welcome.
