Yangon, Myanmar was the stage last week for Zephyr Khambatta’s duo Stadiums to launch their debut single The Other Side, featuring Charles ENERO, Singapore’s top battle rapper. The song premiered on air on Teen Radio Pyinsawadi’s primetime slot at 6pm to a warm reception by the local audience.
The 30-minute interview that was also live on the Burmese radio station’s Facebook page, marks a turning point in the singer-songwriter-music producer’s young music career and a big step forward in Reunion X Records’ regional outreach. Following on the heels of Khambatta’s previous single Sail Away’s music video making it to MTV Asia and VH1 India, Reunion X Records seems set to be rolling the punches as far as Singaporean record labels go.
Said the NUS dropout turned artiste and frontman of Stadiums, “My ultimate goal is to provide a soundtrack to people’s days; to provide comfort, sympathy, or an infectious dance floor beat for people to move to.”
There were also several soul searching moments for the LASALLE College of the Arts alumnus on the couch while answering deep questions by Burmese pop princess Ah Moon, in a video interview by Popular Journal at the Hard Rock Café, Yangon.
