Lord Karan F. Bilimoria CBE of Chelsea

at the Zartoshty Brothers Hall, on Sunday 15th October 2006 at 3:45pm

This function will be graced by dignitaries from all the major political parties as well as leaders of other Faiths.

On Monday 24th July, Lord Karan F Bilimoria CBE of Chelsea, was formally sworn into the House of Lords. Lord Bilimoria is the first Zoroastrian to enter the House of Lords, a landmark in Zoroastrian history. He is the first Zoroastrian in British Parliament after the three great Zoroastrian MPs:

Dr. Dadabhai Naoroji, the “Grand Old Man of India”, founder of the ZTFE and President from 1863 to 1908, was elected to the House of Commons in 1892. Sir Mancherjee Bhownaggree elected in 1895 and ZTFE President from 1908 to 1933. Shapurji Saklatvala elected to the House of Commons in 1922. Re-elected 1924-1929. He was the second communist to be elected in the history of the British Parliament.
