The Poona Zarthosti Seva Mandal celebrated its 75th anniversary on Friday at Pudumjee Hall in Camp. The guest speaker for the event was Supreme Court judge Rohinton Nariman.
Nariman said: “The idea of prayer is to tell one how to live. Also, if one asks for anything in their prayer, it should only be something that is righteous and beneficial to others than themselves.”
He also enumerated the essence of charity in the Zoroastrian faith. He quoted one of the ancient gaathas (hymns) which states, “Helping those in need will lead one to be bestowed with blessings of the almighty.” The Mandal traces its history to 1940. It was set up with the idea of benefiting women of the Parsi community, and has since gone on to become a welfare organization for all members.
Here is a 2014 article on The Shop that the Poona Zarthosti Sevan Mandal runs at 12, MG Road, Opposite Central Bank Of India, Pune
This place is really gonna win your heart. A small shop on MG Road with amazing food and exciting happy hours!! It is “The Pune Zarthosti Seva Mandal”. It offers you an exotic range of rolls, cutlets, puffs etc at really reasonable rates and to add to the eating frenzy they offer a 1+1 on any dish in their happy hours which start after 8:45 pm.
They also offer 50% off on rolls and burgers between 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm.
The food here is fresh and awesomely tasty. My personal favorites are barbeque chicken and the chicken tikka hot dogs, but don’t refrain from trying out the other rad dishes. The bread is freshly baked with a tinge of sweetness which makes the roll a perfect combo with the spicy chicken filling. They all are assuredly lip smacking good!! For all the “ghar ka khana miss karne vale folks” all the stuff which they have is home cooked. What more can a foodie possibly dream of!!
