August 6th 2020 is the first day of the Muktad per the Shehenshahi Parsi Zoroastrian calendar. Parsis around the world and especially in India remember the dear departed of their family. Special prayers are offered at the Agiaries and in homes. The 10th day of the Muktad culminates into the Shehenshahi Parsi New Year.

A few years ago Parsi Khabar started a series around this time titled “The Everyday Parsi”. We have invited “everyday” Parsis to write in.

Over the next few days you will read about what the muktad days meant to these individuals. Be it a certain ritual, memories, occasions or one event that has stood out in their memory.

The people who are invited to write in are like you and me…everyday Parsis.

They are from India, Pakistan, United States, Canada, UK, New Zealand and the world wide Diaspora. They represent the youth of today and leaders and elders of the community. Their views are varied and diverse. And it’s going to be another round of very interesting reading.

You can read all the entries from last year here: https://parsikhabar.net/category/everyday-parsi/

We hope you like the series. If something you read here, resonates with you, do leave a comment. And please share with family and friends.
