History

A clay cylinder covered in Akkadian cuneiform script, damaged and broken, the Cyrus Cylinder is a powerful symbol of religious tolerance and multi-culturalism.

In this enthralling talk Neil MacGregor, Director of the British Museum, traces 2600 years of Middle Eastern history through this single object.

Again as Zoroastrians we should be proud of our rich ancestry and proud of our contribution to humanity in this day and age.   Humanity’s first declaration of human rights abolishing slavery and enshrining people’s rights to worship freely, all this over 500 years before the birth of Christ.

As Zoroastrians we should do all we can to preserve our identity and survival but above all we should stand up and be counted and our achievements should be lauded and recognized. The present Iranian regime could learn something from their illustrious ancestor but unfortunately what is happening in Iran is at a complete polar opposite to what Cyrus the Great would have desired.  I hope the world wakes up and does something to put an end to tyrany and religious persecution in modern day Iran.

    Hi,

Just goes to show how the people of the modern world have been intellectually dumbed down.

I have left a comment above and I hope you agree with it.
