Zia Mody, the founding partner at AZB & Partners is featured as one of the top 50 Asian Businesswomen by the Forbes Magazine.

This Cambridge and Harvard Law School grad isZia Mody-081907-SP-05 one of India’s leading corporate attorneys. She worked at Baker & McKenzie in New York before returning home to India to start her own practice in 1984. With 2 others she formed AZB & Partners in 2004 and went on to earn a reputation as an M&A expert, much sought after by multinationals and billionaire clients such as Sunil Mittal, Kumar Birla and Anil Agarwal. Over the past year she has advised on Agarwal’s Vedanta Resources’ $8.7 billion acquisition of a majority stake in Cairn India and BP’s $7.2 billion deal with Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries. Known to be a workaholic, she expects each of the firm’s 225 lawyers to keep up with her. Her father, Soli Sorabjee, is a former attorney general of India. She sits on the board of HSBC, Asia-Pacific.
